April 21, 2015. Mark your calendar. Better yet check your website right now. More on that later.

Why is this date important? If your customers use Google to find your website it is very important. Especially for mobile users. The coming Google algorithm update has been dubbed "Mobilegeddon" as it will adversely affect many websites without mobile-friendly designs.

It's estimated that more than 50% of Google searches are now performed on mobile devices. For several years now the importance of websites being mobile-friendly has been touted by industry experts including Google, who controls the majority of search traffic on the internet.

Google's aim is to serve the best results possible for their users. In this case, it means that if your website is not responsive (it does not display correctly on mobile devices) your site will be demoted in the search results. Many current websites were built only to be viewed on a desktop computer. These websites could lose up to 50% of their search engine traffic.
