Giving Back
Hackworth loves to give back to the community whenever possible. Throughout the years we have supported locally based non-profit organizations as well as local chapters of national organizations. It is our belief that it is truly better to give than it is to receive!
Below are a list of organizations that Hackworth supports.
Arts Inclusion Company
Arts Inclusion Company is a new company where people of All Abilities are welcomed to participate in all aspects of theatrical arts. At this moment we primarily put on theater performances including but not limited to individuals diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, hearing/vision impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Chesapeake Care Clinic
Chesapeake Care, Inc. was established in 1992. The Clinic and Hampton Roads Dental Center provide medical and dental care to adults who do not qualify for other forms of medical insurance. The volunteer staff includes physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, hygienists, pharmacists, nurses and medical assistants.
Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation
The Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation was formed in 2005. As a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, the Foundation exists to help to promote and support our students by securing alternative and non-traditional funding sources to meet the educational needs of our children.
Chesapeake Sports Club
The Chesapeake Sports Club recognizes, honors and promotes the sports accomplishments and contributions of Chesapeake citizens and organizations. The main purpose is to assist deserving Chesapeake students with recognition and scholarship opportunities while paying tribute to the legendary athletic accomplishments of Chesapeake’s citizens.
CHIP of South Hampton Roads
CHIP is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build a healthy community by building a healthy child. Established in 1998, CHIP is a statewide program that focuses on improvement of children’s health through ensuring that low-income children have medical homes and provision of resources and support services for their families.
Cornhole for the Cure
The LIKE Fund was formed in 2015 to honor Laura Ilene Kesser’s memory. The LIKE Fund raises money for charities in the Tidewater area with a strong commitment to support organizations that benefit the community. Cornhole for the Cure is an annual battle against breast cancer. 100% of the net proceeds are donated to Susan G. Komen Tidewater.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
GFWC Woman's Club of South Norfolk
Founded and Federated in 1951, the Woman's Club of South Norfolk strives to serve its community by supporting scholarships and civic programs in our area. It is the aim of the Woman's Club of South Norfolk to develop a truly American and democratic spirit in fellowship and service.
Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation
The Foundation is dedicated to preserving the battlefield and commemorating and promoting to the nation the strategic importance of the Battle of Great Bridge and the economic and cultural contributions made by the Albemarle & Chesapeake and Dismal Swamp Canals.
Norfolk State University Athletics
The Norfolk State Spartans are composed of 14 sports teams representing Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, tennis and track and field; women's sports include bowling, softball, and volleyball; men's-only sports include baseball and football.
Old Dominion University Athletics
The Old Dominion Monarchs and Lady Monarchs are composed of 18 teams representing Old Dominion University in intercollegiate athletics, including men's and women's basketball, golf, soccer, sailing, swimming & diving, and tennis. Men's sports include baseball, football, and wrestling. Women's sports include field hockey, lacrosse, and rowing.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command serves south side Hampton Roads and its surrounding communities with programs and locations that serve families in need with emergency assistance, housing, substance abuse treatment, youth enrichment opportunities, spiritual care and emergency disaster services.
Something Good Radio
Something Good with Dr. Ron Jones is a nationally syndicated Bible-teaching broadcast that is heard every weekday on radio stations across America. We pray this program is a daily reminder that God is up to something good in your life no matter the struggles you face, and that every good and perfect gift comes from God above.
South Norfolk Ruritan Club
Since 1979, the South Norfolk Ruritan Club has been helping to improve its community by supporting numerous youth, scholarship, social and environmental programs; by honoring local law enforcement and public safety officers, troops, and veterans; and most importantly by supporting and helping our local communities.
Toby's Dream Foundation
Founded in 2009, Toby’s Dream Foundation is dedicated to bringing joy to children with life-threatening illnesses by granting them a Dream of a lifetime. This charitable foundation is focused on serving children who are treated and referred from Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and from Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
