Your marketing department has decided that having a printed banner to use at trade shows, in your community, and perhaps even in your business location will drive more traffic to your company. You should find an experienced and talented printer that can deliver the banner that you want by bringing your ideas to life. Before you meet with the printer, it’s a good idea to jot down some ideas that you want on your banner, the colors that you like, and to develop some questions that the printer can help you with. Once you have some ideas in mind, it’s time to meet with the professionals to begin the process of implementing banners into your marketing strategies. How should you begin gathering ideas about the banner that you want? Use the tips below to create an effective banner plan to share with your printer.

  • Remember to stay focused. Think about the message that you want to deliver and the audience that you want to target. If you’re having a special sale, use the word SALE in large letters to draw attention to your sign. An experienced printer can advise you about how to focus in on the message that you want your banner to convey.
  • Include your logo or brand on the banner. No matter where you are using your banner, you want the audience to know the company that is stating the message. You should include your logo, any colors that you always use with your advertising materials, and add graphics that help add to the reason you are printing a banner. Make sure that you include your web address or other contact information if possible; you want your audience to be able to contact you if they have questions about something you are offering.

  • Keep it neat and tidy. Don’t try to cram every aspect of your message on the banner. Ask your printer to help you streamline your content, to use white space effectively, and to use the right sizes of fonts that are readable from a distance. You should determine where you are going to use your banner so that your printer will know exactly the size banner you need, the colors that will highlight the content, and the font style that will enhance your message. Ask your printer to make sure that the banner isn’t cluttered and hard to read; you want this investment in your business to be an effective marketing strategy.
  • Finally, consider the background on which your banner will be displayed. Will you be affixing it to a brick wall? If you are, let your printer know so a red or brown background won’t be used. Keep in mind that contrast is essential to make your banner pop out from the space on which it’s displayed. Keep your color choices simple so that your sign is attractive and appealing from all angles.
