You may need to leave your office for a long period of time during this event and here are some tips and tricks on keeping your office asset healthy until it’s back to business as usual:

If you plan to leave your HP DesignJet or DesignJet XL Printer for a more than two weeks, it’s best to leave it on. All HP DesignJet and DesignJet XL Printers are made to enter sleep mode when not in use after a certain period of time. This sleep mode is designed to conserve power, reduce mechanical wear, and keep the ink system from drying up. Every 24 hours your printer will wake up and check the printheads to ensure that they are operational and then go back to sleep. There are stories of printers in sleep mode for over 6 months waking up when a job is sent to it, and printing like a fine-tuned machine. It will consume a small amount of ink to keep the ink system fresh, but it is a tiny fraction of the price to replace just one printhead.

If the printer does need to be powered off for any reason: Keep the ink cartridges in place, unload the paper, and make sure to power off via the power button / front panel, to make sure that the ink system has been properly parked in place.

When you do get back to printing, here are some tips to keep the HP DesignJet and DesignJet XL in top shape:

Run the printhead cleaning from the front panel before your first print run or if you see white banding or a “replace printhead” messages. If the printer has been idle for a while, you might need to run this procedure 2-4 times to clear the white banding. If you see no improvements, then it’s unrecoverable and it will be time to replace the printhead.

Later HP DesignJet and DesignJet XL models have made it convenient with a touch of a button on the front panel to do the 4 most common calibrations and in proper order. Make sure to have the paper you plan to use loaded as it will be needed for some of the calibrations. These calibrations are done automatically, so you can do other things while the printer optimizes itself.

If your business involves the need to print construction plans for contractors, architects or engineers, you may be studying project costs to determine if you should buy your own printer or outsource the job to a third party professional. As an owner or manager you must control the expenses of your company no matter its size so that you can reach the financial goals that you have set for your business. The question of whether you should invest in a large format printer or outsource printing construction plans should be thoroughly addressed. Review the points discussed below to help you make the right decision for your company.

Printer Cost vs Printing Cost

One of the first things that you must think about is the cost of printing the plans. In order to accurately calculate the cost per square foot of your printing you must pay attetion to these factors:

Volume of prints produced – If you print small volumes infrequently then outsourcing may be a good option. The more volume you print the more likely an in-house solution is right for your company.

Inkjet or toner based printing – The gap between these types of printers gets smaller all of the time, but generally speaking if you want to print in house inkjet is a low cost and low volume solution while toner based printers offer higher production speeds and volumes at a higher cost.

Color or black and white – With constantly improving technology this is not a simple “Yes, we will” or “No, we won’t use color” question. Similarly to inkjet and toner consideration the lines between color and black white are figuratively being blurred. Today, color is much more affordable to own and outsource and studies show that in the long run it can be more cost effective due to a reduction in errors on the job site.

Investing in a printer that accommodates the size of your projects can save you a great deal of money in the long run. The price of outsourcing your job will depend on whether you request black and white or color prints as well the size of the documents that you need. Printing in-house can save you as much as 46% more than the cost of having the work outsourced. Keep in mind that inside your own company you can also control the output of the job more closely.

Printing Flexibility

Another factor that you should think about is the amount of flexibility that you will have with in-house printing vs outsourcing the work. With in-house you will be able to print the job according to your business schedule and can better meet the deadlines imposed upon you by the client requesting the printing. If you outsource the printing of construction plans it allows your employees to on other more mission critical tasks. You must ask yourself if an outsourcing provider can meet your requirements, what type of recourse will you have if things go wrong, and will you have to include shipping or set-up costs in the total price of the job?

Printer Maintenance

Finally, maintenance on a large format printer will be required if you elect to purchase your own equipment to do printing jobs in-house. You must include the cost of the printer, the supplies that you will need, any upgrade costs, and the cost of maintaining the printer in excellent operating order. If you decide to outsource the job of printing construction plans to a printer, you will not have to worry about upkeep on a large format printer that takes up valuable office space and any specialized training that you’ll have to provide to employees so that they can operate the printer safely and accurately.

The final choice is yours to make; you must consider the amount of finances that you have available, the quantity of work that you do regularly on large format projects, and which strategy would work best for your company. If you have more questions about which solution is best for your business, talk to one of our Regional Sales Managers they can provide you with a free in-house vs. outsource analysis tailored to your company.

Earlies this year HP introduced the PageWide technology with the XL large format printers as a way of helping businesses and professionals to print what they need quickly and efficiently, while still maintaining the high standards that HP prides itself on.

What is PageWide Technology?

PageWide Technology can be understood as the upgrade to the traditional print head used in color laser printers. It involves staggering the HP Thermal Inkjet chips in order to both save space, and makes it possible for there to be both scalability and versatility when choosing how you want your prints to be.

Along with this fantastic new print head comes a new age of printers as well to help keep up with this great technology. These are large format printers, also defined by HP as their PageWide XL printer series. These printers are perfect for the business world, and can handle massive printing jobs with ease.

The Features of PageWide Technology

There is a lot to look at and explore within this new technology. Some of the main features that PageWide technology offers to consumers include reliable drop ejection, high sustained drop rates, stackability, improved dot placement accuracy, and a compact print zone.

The PageWide print head also has various specifications that attribute to its success. Here is a list of some of them:

HP Thermal Inkjet Technology

25,344 nozzles per printhead

1,200 nozzles per inch native resolution

6,336 nozzles per color

Built-in ink filtration and pressure regulation

User replaceable without tools or mechanical adjustments

All of these features work to improve the accuracy, and quality of the work that is produced. They work to reduce printing errors and defects to give you the best quality prints every time.

PageWide XL Printers

There are many new printers that support this amazing advancement in technology. These printers are included in the new HP Page Wide XL printers, and they offer various features of their own that can further contribute to the speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of your prints. Some of the features that these printers bring to the table include a production stacker and online folder; fade and moisture resistant inks to ensure top-notch prints every time; and the capability to hold up to 6 rolls and dual HP ink supplies with the built-in auto-switch.

These printers will be able to produce up to 30 D/A1 pages per minute with an amazing 50% cost savings per page, even when printing in color. This, of course, varies from one printer to the next as there are 3 main options available in this new line of large format printers. These options are:

HP PageWide XL 8000

HP PageWide XL 5000

HP PageWide XL 4000

Each of these printers in the series offers you different options within their own categories. For example, within the HP PageWide XL 5000 series, there is the option for the standard 5000 version or the option of using their 5000 MFP version. One offers you the capability of scanning and copying as well as traditional printing, while the other follows the suit of a more standard printer. This makes it easier for you to select exactly the right model for you that will fit your business’ needs.

This series of HP PageWide XL printers also enables you to connect your printer to your enterprise network, and have access to workflow solutions. Last but not least, HP has made a valiant effort to reduce the acquisition and energy costs that are needed in order to use these printers by going through the qualification process for the Energy Star logo. These new printers can now be seen under those devices which have gained the Energy Star qualification.

With so much to explore, see, and experience with the new HP PageWide Technology and HP PageWide XL Series printers, business owners can rejoice knowing that they will be able to enjoy high quality prints, a fast printout speed, and a wonderful cost-effective system for many years to come.

Although the move to digital formats and the emphasis on using new computing devices seemed to signal a decline in certain forms of printing, the wide format printing era seems to have been renewed. Today, more businesses are tapping into this form of printing and the results are companies such as HP, Canon and KIP creating new types of wide format printers and technology to meet this growing demand.

What are Wide Format Printers?

Generally speaking, these are printers that can print from a width starting at 17” up to 100”. Printers which can print wider than 100” are generally called “Super-Wide” or “Grand Format” printing devices. Wide format printing is used to print banners, posters and any other signage that requires large sizes. In certain conditions, people may use wide format printers instead of screen printing, especially for short runs or low numbers of copies.

These type of printers use several kinds of ink technology including aqueous, solvent, UV, dye sublimation and toner. The type of project dictates the ink that would be used, i.e. indoor vs. outdoor, color vs. black and white or short term vs. long term.

The Future is Today in Wide Format Printing

What has been true over the past few years is that wide format printing has grown far more than expected. Today, companies that use to be wary of purchasing wide format printers are now seeing a tremendous opportunity to expand or enhance their business.

This is because a series of bold, new ideas from businesses has really bolstered the industry. The following are just a few of the new ideas that have actually created new technology for wide print formatting.

Wall Graphics: Why have a boring old wall when you can augment it with colorful wide prints? This has allowed businesses to change their interior appearance at a relatively low cost. Plus, it makes each business really stand out in terms of marketing to the public.

Reproduction of Art & Drawings: From blueprints to the most celebrated art in the world, this type of printing has allowed for precise reproductions that are astonishing. Closely related is the ability to recreate architectural drawings and blue prints to larger sizes for an even better understanding of projects.

Companies like HP, KIP and Canon are now creating wide format printers that many businesses are purchasing to meet their own specific needs. Organizations that would traditionally outsource their printing needs can now afford in-house wide format printers that allows them to save time and money in the long run. They are able to create their own banners, posters and other large promotional materials for trade shows and public events to really draw attention to what they do.

For something that seemingly had limited appeal just a few years ago, wide format printing now has much greater application to everyday business operations. The future of wide format printing combined with lower cost printers, advances in digital technology and the imaginations of business owners around the world looks to be very bright indeed.

A wide format printer is a printer which prints on pages wider than 17 inches but less than 100 inches. Printers over the 100 inch mark are referred to as “super-wide” or “grand” format. Wide format printers usually use a roll of paper instead of individually cut sheets of paper.

If you often print blueprints, banners, or other documents over 24 inches wide, purchasing a wide format printer is an excellent investment. These machines print in either black and white or color, on a wide range of output materials.

There are two primary markets for wide format printers.

The first is the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, which has long used wide format printers (often referred to as “plotters”) for blueprints and other technical documents.

The other market is for graphics printing. Print and design shops use wide format printers to create large-scale signs, banners, textiles, custom fabric orders, and durable outdoor graphics, for advertising agencies, retail stores, educational institutions, and the government.

If your print volume is high enough, your organization will benefit from acquiring a wide format printer of your own.

All of the major printer manufacturers have ranges of wide format printers. HP, for example, produces the Designjet range of 21 different models, each with different specifications and prices. The Designjet 111 is only 3’ 3” wide and produces prints up to D size for about $1 per page, whereas the top-of-the-range Designjet Z5400 can hold two rolls of paper and uses six different colored inks each in separate cartridges.

Other wide format printer manufacturers include Canon, Kip, Océ, Xerox, Epson and Roland.

If you want to choose a wide format printer for your business, how do you proceed? You need to produce a specification of the features you are after and then compare that list to the printers on the market. Here are some ideas:

How large do you want to be able to print? Up to 100 inches wide?

Do you want a low cost per print?

How about separate ink cartridges for each colour? There are pros and cons of this.

What DPI (dots per inch) do you want to go up to? Greater DPI produces clearer prints.

Do you want to be able to print from PDF and Postscript files?

What sort of connectivity does the printer need, network or direct to a PC?

How noisy can the printer get for your office? (Sound is measured in decibels.)

Will you want training to be provided for the printer by your supplier?

And how do you choose a printer supplier? You need to find a company like Hackworth in Chesapeake, Virginia, that specializes in wide format printing and knows the technology inside out. It has been in business since 1991. It prints banners and other art-work for its customers, and sells printers and consumables on-line and in store. So you can see the products before you buy them, and see how easy or hard it is to use one of these print devices.

Printers over the 100” mark are referred to as “super-wide” or “grand” format. Wide format printer research can help separate the pretenders from the contenders when printing banners, posters and signs as well as black and white construction plans. A wide format printer usually prints from a roll of paper instead of single sheets. They may also use hot air dryers to keep prints from sticking to one another while they are being printed. Choosing the right wide format printer is not a difficult task, just plot out what features are desired and find the model that best suits the intention.

An HP Designjet wide format printer is great for professional graphics and technical drawings. The printer delivers exceptional quality renderings regardless of the use. HP Designjet printers are highly reliable and user friendly. They can print detailed maps, precision schematics and photographic reproductions of professional quality.

A KIP wide format printer provides digital printing solutions for architectural, engineering and manufacturing establishments. KIP is a dependable, efficient and high quality performance. KIP has award winning models of wide format design which render imaging technologies well and enhance the operations of every piece of the KIP printing or scanning system catalog.

A Canon wide format printer offers a brand name to be trusted for technical documents as well as general use. Canon gives professional printers more options than they have before. The company has a long history of being the industry standard and particularly color Canon inkjet printers have been used for generations. Specifically the Canon imagePROGRAF color printer serves general purpose printing as well as more technical documents.

An Océ wide format printer is a world leader in printing technical documents, copying, plotting and scanning. Océ’s wide format printers offer the advanced reprographic capabilities required by companies all over the world. Océ has numerous models able to handle wide format printing up to 60” wide and any length.

Choosing the right wide format printer also involves choosing the right ink. Water based ink is most often used, despite the misnomer. Most often it is not water that carries the ink but another fluid. Dye ink has a high color selection, but fades easier in UV radiation. UV resistant ink stands up to UV radiation, but tends to have duller colors. Once you’ve made your decision, Hackworth can fulfill your ink supply needs.

The best scanning results are achieved when the light source has stabilized. This stabilization occurs approx. 20 min. after an initial cold-start power ON. When powering off the scanner on a daily basis we recommend using the power button located on the operators panel to place the scanner into Standby Mode. This feature reduces the amount of time to stabilize to just a few minutes. If you are going to turn off the scanner for long periods of time then you may use the main power switch located at the back of the scanner.

Once the light stabilization has occurred, it is best to clean the scan glass area and run the Scanner Maintenance Calibration. The Scanner Maintenance calibration should be run at the initial scanner setup and then only as needed, typically once a month.

Scanner Maintenance, when properly run, will refine the scanner’s White and Black Point calibration automatically. It will provide a balanced Grayscale and RGB calibration using an industry standard IT8 color target. It aligns both vertical and horizontal Camera stitch by automatically adjusting the position of the cameras in reference to the scan-line. It is recommended to allow the scanner to warm-up at least 1 hour before performing a Scanner Maintenance Calibration.

Additionally, CONTEX scanners automatically perform a BASIC calibration periodically throughout the day when they are IDLE, compensating for dirt and foreign matter that may have been introduced onto the glass or white background plate. However, it is still recommended that users occasionally clean the scan glass and the white background plate between scans.

All sheet-fed scanning devices push the scan originals thru the document transport as the scan is captured. If there are any significant particles or imperfections introduced by the original or detected in the scanner optics – this may result in streaking in scanned images. Scanner Maintenance and BASIC calibration work together to overcome slight imperfections detected in the optics.

Below is a discussion of the possible situations that may be encountered and recommendations on how to overcome them.

Scanner Hygiene
If significant dust / dirt / fibers / or scratches are present on the scan glass or on the white background plate or somewhere else in the scanner’s optical area, either during the last calibration or during the last scan – consequent scans are likely to result in vertical streaking in the scan images. If streaks are encountered, simply clean off the scan glass and try to scan again. Most times this will resolve the issue. If not, see information below for further information.

Streak Classification
“Random Streaks”
Random Streaks are streaks which appear in a certain area of a scanned image – but if the image is rescanned, these streaks may move to a different area. These are most likely caused by dust / fibers moving around in the optical area.

“Hard Streaks”
Hard Streaks are streaks that appear in a certain area of a scanned image and if the image is re-scanned, the streak will appear in the same location These are most likely caused by scratches or “fixed” imperfections on the surface of the scan glass or the surface of the white background plate or in other areas of the optics. Hard streaks that are light or neutral in color may also represent dirt that was present during the last Scanner Maintenance. If the dirt has now been removed from the surface of the glass the calibration will over compensate for the removed dirt, resulting in a light streak.
NOTE: The Optical Area is the area from the CCD Arrays > through the Camera Lens > through the Mirror Chassis > through the Scan Glass to the surface of the White Background plate

Focused vs Unfocused Streaks & Short Streaks
There is a further classification of the two basic types of streaks noted earlier. Streaks whether Random or Hard can be additionally categorized as sharply defined thin lines that appear “ in Focus” or somewhat blurry “Un-focused” lines. Lastly, are the “Short Streaks”, also known as ‘Comets’, that appear to ‘come and go’ but do NOT continue throughout the complete image

“Sharp / Focused Streaks”
These type of lines are typically caused by imperfections detected in the Upper Area of the scanner optics – at the glass or white calibration strip.
Below is an example of this type of streak:

“Blurry /Un-focused Streaks”
These types of streaks typically occur when imperfections are detected in the Lower Area of the scanner optics – at the CCD array, Camera Lens or in the Mirror Chassis area.
Below is an example of this type of streak:

“Short Streaks” (Comets)

These types of streaks typically occur when imperfections are ‘momentarily’ detected in the Upper scanner optics – at the Scan Glass. This obstruction is stationary at some point in the scan capture but then moves off the scan –line for the remainder of the scan capture. So the streak is typically well defined, sharply focused but will only streak partially thru a uniform background color – then appear to disappear – like a ‘Comet’. Typically the source of the streak is from small dirt particles or grit rubbing off the document itself, onto the stationary glass and then getting removed shortly thereafter by the moving document.

Below is an example of this type of streak:

Cleaning the Upper Optics
Most streaking can be addressed by following the steps below:

Open the Lid to access the scan glass and white background plate

Carefully inspect both the scan glass (top and bottom surfaces), the surface of the white background plate and the area around the fluorescent bulb and reflector strip. Consult the user documentation for information on how to access the scan glass.

Look for ANY dirt / dust / marks / scratches or other contaminants.

Clean ANY dirt / dust / marks as best as possible (do not use any chemicals or liquids when cleaning the reflector strip).

If significant scratches are detected on the scan glass or white background plate – the part will need to be replaced.
NOTE: – Significant streaking MAY have a negative affect on the scanner’ ability to successfully perform its Stitch Alignment

When the individual parts and fluorescent bulb area is cleaned, set all parts back in the default Power-ON position, turn the scanner Power OFF/ON

Wait for the scanner to complete the Warm-Up then run Scanner Maintenance

Scan again and evaluate.

If necessary, clean a specific area again then run Scanner Maintenance again

Scan again and evaluate.

Enhanced Scanner Treatments
There are other treatments that can be applied to specific scanner chassis areas to help minimize the chance of encountering streaks in scanned images. The movement of some originals in the normal action of scanning, especially if it has staples or paper clips that have not been removed, will eventually scratch the scan glass and white background plate which will result in streaking on scans. Depending on the scanner’s environment, electro-static build-up, typically in the scan glass / bulb area, will also promote the possibility of dust build up in these areas which may increase the chance of streaking.

Conditioning the Scan Glass
The scan glass can be conditioned with a silicon-based glass treatment, like RAIN-X, which when applied will provide a thin protective silicon coating to the surface of the glass. This protective coating will shield the glass surface from direct contact with an original during the scanning process. Simply apply the treatment to the glass surface, rub-in, let dry then lightly buff until the surface is smooth. There is an added benefit to this treatment in that dust / fibers will no longer adhere to the glass surface but will slide off the glass because of the smooth slick surface.
NOTE: After applying this treatment, it is best to run Scanner Maintenance

Anti-Static Treatment
One other treatment that can be applied to the scanner chassis is some type of anti-static treatment. This treatment can be in the form of a spray or liquid application. An example would be Static-Cling Spray, available in most Department or General stores. This anti-static treatment when applied to the metal surface areas in and around the document transport and front feed-tray document insertion area (any metal place an original may come into contact with during a scan) will help to neutralize static build-up and repel any dust / fibers from sticking to these surface areas minimizing the chance of these obstructions getting in the cameras optical area.
NOTE: After applying this treatment, it is best to run Scanner Maintenance

Conclusion
For optimum scanning results, it is necessary that the user understand the necessary periodic maintenance requirements to keep the scanner optics and document transport areas as clean as possible.

ALWAYS clean the scan glass and white background plate BEFORE turning the scanner Power ON

Make it a point to clean these areas occasionally BETWEEN scans for the very best color scan quality

If Streaking does occur, inspect and clean all suspected areas -> Always run Scanner Maintenance after you have cleaned

If you suspect the streaks are caused by optical obstructions in the Lower Optical Area – call for On -Site assistance from a Certified Service Technician

Try the additional Glass and Anti-Static treatments described earlier

Since the main source of contaminants introduced into the scanner are from the documents themselves, it may become necessary to wipe down the document prior to scanning to remove as much dirt, grit or lint as possible before scanning.

But, for design and construction, this may well be a blessing in disguise. The reprographics business is feeling the lagging effect of that downturn now and we are adapting accordingly. Businesses in all fields are learning to adapt to their new realities. But when it comes to the design and construction of new buildings, that new reality means tighter budgets, quicker build times, and smaller staffs.

Construction has been slow to embrace the digital world. The tangible piece of paper makes a lot of sense in a world where you are creating a finished project—a school, a restaurant, a hospital. You feel a sense of control having your set of plans in your work van.

The reality of the digital world is finally creeping into the world of construction, though. Smaller office staffs and the costs of production of large sets of plans have pushed the reality on the contractor. Whereas a large General Contractor would have large sets of construction plans available for everyone’s use, now these plans are made available online to all parties collaborating on the project or are transmitted in some sort of digital format (either through e-mail or disc). At Hackworth Reprographics, we have redesigned our business around this new reality.

As a reprographer, Hackworth provides all the traditional support services needed for everyone in the design and build process. Large format printing, scanning, and copying, document design, and proposal support. Additionally, we have a division that can provide you with wide format printing and scanning solutions in your own office. As more of the work has moved to digital workflow, the wide format imaging business has evolved, too. There are machines that can support the large multi-user architecture firm and others that are perfect for the small plumbing contractor working out of his home.

It is our most recent partnership that ties all of Hackworth’s business units together, though. We have recently partnered with MySmartPlans to offer an incredible online resource to help tie together all steps of the collaborative process. This unique tool tracks and captures every phase of the design process from start to finish and pushes out information to all parties involved in all phases of design, allowing for faster and more cost effective design and creation. It allows the customer to fully take advantage of the digital world.

Being a local company with strong ties to our market has allowed us to anticipate these changes in the business and climate and adjust accordingly. We have invested in our business and our people to prepare with technology and knowledge to help you adapt. Together we can continue moving up in a downturn.

And that may not be a bad thing. We always seem to be able to make do with less or different resources during times of change. If your business is like ours, you have likely had to figure out how to make do with fewer resources. Maybe you have figured out ways to change your staffing levels or you have managed to extend the life of your infrastructure. It is in times like these we find higher levels of creativity and innovation. If what I have read from leading economists is true, we’ll likely continue to try and learn from the forced efficiencies the downturned forced us to create. But like most companies: once you’ve learned to get by with less, you get used to it. Shaking that off and getting ready for the future can be a tough prospect.

The challenge for people who are ready to thrive is what should you do next? Do you invest in your business hoping to be prepared for the upturn (especially when you’re unsure when or if it is coming)? Do you invest in the human capital you need to grow? Or do you try to find other efficiencies that allow you to take advantage of what you have left? Do you make long term plans for new industry standards?

The key for anyone at this point is to look for business partners who share your philosophies and are positioned to be ready whichever way the new reality heads.

Here at Hackworth, we have made several key investments. We have moved people into new roles and have dedicated resources to new business areas. We are adding new products that will help you streamline your workflow and allow more efficient collaboration both internally and with the other organizations with which you partner. Whether you need to outsource your document production, or if you’re looking for the ability to print or scan in-house, we can help. Looking for a new marketing approach? Our in-house color bureau gives you the expert oomph that you need. And our new partnership with MySmartPlans can revolutionize the way you share information in your design process.

Whichever way you go, we would love to continue the conversation with you.

It is a refrain I hear all the time from people looking at new wide format equipment. Especially in the uncertainty of the current economic downturn, it is always scary to make the leap into an unknown world. But what a lot of people don’t know is that there are many ways to look at your new machine and other very easy ways to finance your purchase.

At Hackworth Imagining, we are able to offer a very unique perspective to your new equipment decision. As a large reprographic shop that also sells and services wide format equipment, we can help you to analyze your current costs and make recommendations based on whether in-house equipment, pure outsourcing, or a hybrid solution works best for you.

Even though you may be hearing horror stories about credit availability in the general marketplace, what you may not know is that our lending partners have a wealth of programs available, including $1 buy-out leasing, longer term leasing, and 0% interest leases. Whatever your financing options are, we can find a solution that meets your needs.

And after you have made the decision to add wide format equipment to your office, Hackworth can provide you with a support package that fits your budget. We can cover you with our extended service programs and can offer you all-inclusive programs that allow you to budget for all your costs and secure your supplies at a greatly reduced rate.

Please take the time to meet with one of our Regional Sales Managers and allow us to provide you with a no-obligation cost analysis.

Have you ever been to an all-inclusive beach resort? Isn’t it so nice to kick back and relax and not have to worry about settling your bill for each meal? Or tipping the waitress and bell boy? It just makes vacation so much more enjoyable when all of the little things have been taken care of.

So, why wouldn’t you want the same worry free atmosphere in your work place? Now, granted, of course there won’t be any sun and sand involved….but, you get the idea.

Hackworth Imaging offers all-inclusive-maintenance-plans to meet your printing needs.

If you have or are thinking about a new digital wide format printing device, then you should strongly consider signing up for our all-inclusive-maintenance-plan.

It’s inevitable, you are going to need to replace the toner and paper regularly. It’s a fact…unless you decide to use your investment for a table or a place to put the coffee pot (which of course we do not recommend).

Just like any digital printing equipment, you are going to need maintenance from time-to-time. A good cleaning every once in awhile will help your equipment work for years and years to come.

So, why pay for maintenance, toner and paper separately? Why deal with the headache of 3 different purchase orders and checks each month?

Think back to the all-inclusive beach resort……aaaahhhh…..they make it so easy for you! Can you taste the fruity drink now?

So, keep it simple and sign up for our all-inclusive-maintenance-plan. It’s one simple payment each month based on your projected volumes. All you need to do is tell us how much bond paper and toner you want, and we will send it to you….no questions asked. Each month we bill you according to your meter reading.

It’s that easy!!!

You’ll be glad you did.

Problem: You have a huge multi-page PDF file and only need to print a few of the drawings in that file. Due to the large file size you cannot e-mail the job to your local reprographic shop and instead you copy it to your jump drive. Then you have to take the jump drive to the local reprographic shop for them to extract only the drawings you need and have them printed.

Solution: With the KIP 3100 and the KIP Request Software you can, with the click of the mouse, convert the huge multi-page PDF to a standard PDF. It will then create individual files of the drawings so that you can isolate only the drawings that you want to print. There is no longer any need to save the whole multi-page PDF file to a jump drive and pay a reprographic shop to do the work. Now you just convert the file in KIP Request and send only the desired prints directly to the KIP 3100 for instant results. This one application alone is a real time and money saver for you, and is only one of the many new capabilities provided by Hackworth that will improve your productivity by enhancing your document workflow process.
